Dreaming the Night Field: a legend of Wales
SHOW NAME
DESCRIPTION
Embrace the magic of music, song and stories from the Mabinogion! Trailer: https://youtu.be/ehUGg40WaCo Michael Harvey Storyteller Lynne Denman Singer Stacey Blythe Composer/Musician www.adversecamber.org Honour, justice, magic and transformation collide in this spellbinding new storytelling and music performance which evokes the ancient Welsh legend of the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogion. Gwydion, nephew to the King, a magician and storyteller, provokes a war between North and South Wales and unleashes a chaos of consequences. Blodeuwedd, a woman conjured from flowers, is torn between duty and desire, with fateful results. Experience a world that's bristling with life, filled with animals, people and constellations caught between creation and destruction. By turns thrilling, funny, powerful and poetic, Dreaming the Night Field is available in either bilingual or Welsh language versions. It is created and performed by one of Wales' most engaging storytellers Michael Harvey (Creative Wales Major Award Winner) with exquisitely haunting live music from singer Lynne Denman and composer/musician Stacey Blythe Brought to you by Adverse Camber productions, the creative team behind the much loved Hunting the Giant's Daughter. In the bilingual performance, English and Welsh are woven together to make ancient voices and landscapes come alive. "The highlight of the festival was an incredible epic telling of the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogion. (It) received a well-deserved standing ovation." Wales Arts Review Comments made by audience members: “The time is right for this show!” “You never quite know what’s going to happen next.” “I enjoyed every moment of it, fantastic!” “It was brilliant, magical, I loved it!” Designed for adult audiences, suitable for age 12+
